What a great campground! Beautiful scenery, large, well shaded campsites and lots to do. There are several hiking trails, which can also be biking trails as we proved. While we were there they were repaving the campground roads and the pool was closed, so we didn't really get the full experience. One complaint we have is that there is only 1 dump station for a park this large and we waited in line for nearly an hour on Sunday morning to use it. Otherwise this park is great, probably the nicest state park we've stayed at. They have canoe and bike rentals and a large general store with a cafe which is very convenient. We really enjoyed ourselves here and look forward to returning once all the road work is done and the pool is open.
Great location next to port and right on the beach. Campsites are very close together though with no privacy. The middle and back loops of the campground are essentially dirt lots with trailers scattered everywhere. As other reviews state the campground roads are indeed rough. But overall you have to consider where you are, which is right on the beach. Bathrooms were the cleanest we've seen at any campground which I must admit we weren't expecting. Rates I believe are cheaper staring May 1.
Really nice campground very close to the beach (it's just across the street). Nice private, wooded sites. Restrooms clean but definitely dated. Only 1 dumpster all the way in the front so can be a long walk at the end of the night to throw out your trash depending on where your site is. No ground fires allowed so bring a fire pit if you want a camp fire. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice warm pool and adjacent hot tub. We would stay there again.
Nice, quaint little campground off of fairly busy stretch of Hwy 27 (Walmart 1 mile down the road). Most sites are very small, not able to fit more than 1 tent or trailer. There are a few larger sites in the back for big rigs. Staff here was very helpful and friendly. You can buy firewood at the gatehouse and they will deliver it to you by golf cart! Clean restrooms. Nice boat ramp and playground down by the lake, however no swimming due to alligators. We would camp here again.
